How and why might a battery lose water?

There are a lot of things that would affect the water loss in a battery. These can vary depending on the customer and usage. Interstate Batteries recommends checking water levels every 4-6 weeks and adding if levels are below ½” over the plates.

Here are just a few examples of what can cause water levels to diminish:


1.       Over charging

2.       Old age

3.       Outside temperatures (hot environment)

4.       Improper usage
